In-Person Classes FAQ

How much does it cost? When is tuition due?

Tuition is $105.00 a month billed on the first of every month for 1 hour class per week.

Do you offer a free trial class?

Yes, this is the best way to try out our studio and meet the instructor and see if our program is a great fit for you. You do not need to bring any supplies as we have them available as well as smocks for your first trial class.

What does a free trial class consist of?

We will introduce the color wheel, blending, shadows, highlights, touch lines, horizon lines while producing your first still life in easy to follow techniques using pencil and chalk pastels. The instructor will interact with you and find out what you are passionate about, what you would like to learn, and determine a path that will help fulfill your goals in art.

When can I start?

Anytime, since the small group classes are taught individually. Monthly tuition will be prorated.

Do I come for the same class time and day of the week?

Yes, once you enroll you choose a class time and day of the week that remains the same unless you decide to change it.

Do you teach private classes?

Our class sizes are small enough that we can individualize allowing each student to feel like they are receiving personalized one on one instruction.

What are the class sizes?

We have a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 7.

How do your classes work? Does everyone do the same thing?

Each small group class can be mixed from beginners to advanced levels and each student is individually taught. Every student is working on his or her own project in their chosen medium program. Art classes are for ages 8 to adult.

How long are the classes?

Classes are 1-hour increments. You are welcome to add more times and days if you wish based on class size availability. Many of our adult students feel after 1 hour they do not want to stop and love having the opportunity to continue for a 2nd hour.

How many times a week are the classes?

Based on our standard tuition classes are 1 hour once a week. You are always welcome to add more hours either on the same day or a different day based on class size availability.

Can I do more than one medium at a time?

Yes, you can. All you have to do is purchase the kit for a one time supply fee for each medium program chosen.

Do I have to bring or get my own supplies?

No, we have all of the supplies available in a kit form for you to purchase for each medium program that we offer.

Can I bring my own supplies?

Studio H has all of the supplies available in a kit form for you to purchase for each medium program that we offer. We have many years of professional art experience and have extensively tested many art supplies over the years and have chosen the best products that can be used for beginners to advanced students with excellent results. When students buy or bring in subpar or low-quality supplies they can get frustrated and struggle to achieve their desired results in their artwork.

What mediums do you teach?

Currently, we teach pastels, graphite pencils, Pigma Micron pens, watercolors, acrylics, and water-soluble oils.

How long does each medium program take?

It depends on each student’s comfort, skill level, and pace. Everybody has their own timeline and there is no pressure for completing projects.

Is every medium taught at different days and times?

No, all classes have different levels, mediums, and ages.

I am a beginner, I do not have any art experience will these classes work for me?

Absolutely, we start at the very beginning and move at your pace in an easy to follow step by step project-based program. The instructor demonstrates the techniques and talks you through the process.

I have a lot of art experience do I have to start at the beginning?

No, because we are able to individualize we can start based on assessing and discussing your past experience and future artistic goals.

I am an experienced artist looking for assistance with my current paintings can you provide guidance when I am stuck?

We are always happy to help and guide students when they are stuck; illustrating techniques, adjusting perspectives, color mixing, highlights, shadows and any other processes needed to complete their artwork.

Do you have drop-in classes?

Due to our unique progressive project-based learning style we do not offer drop-in art classes.

Can family members and friends do classes together?

Yes, absolutely we encourage families and friends to share in their art experience together at our studio. We offer family discounts and half off tuition referral bonuses for students who invite a friend or friends that sign up and register too.

I have a child interested in art classes can I drop off for class time and pick up at the end or do I have to stay there?

We encourage parents to drop off when they can because we have limited observing space.

No, because we maintain the same class times each day and week and are open all year.

Will I be in a class with different ages and levels?

Possibly, each class can be mixed from beginners to advanced levels and ages 8 to adult. If you have a preference we can advise the best class times based on student age, comfort, and learning style.

Where are your classes located?

We are located at 105 Coronado Ct. A small industrial area in South Fort Collins ½ of a mile South of Harmony Road off of College Ave and Cameron Street, (2 blocks south of the Max Bus station). We are in a white building and there is a driveway on the right side that leads to the lower level parking and where we are located in Suite B-101.

What COVID-19 precautionary measures are being taken?

While we have always offered small class sizes and a clean and welcoming space, there are some additional procedures we have implemented to help keep everyone healthy and safe as we resume art in our physical studio. You can read about them in detail.

What happens when there are more or less than 4 weeks in a month?

We are on a monthly tuition where it is a flat rate for the monthly tuition without pro-rating. We do not want to have any confusion with pro-rating, there is no varying fee and it makes it easier for parents and students to know the cost as well as benefiting with some free art classes for the year. This monthly tuition method is in line with most extracurricular businesses and balances out for the 5 week months for the year (in the students & parents favor).
